I'm an author, and, yes, I have been published, though not nearly as much as I would like. I have my own blog, and I occasionally work as an advocate for different disability related causes. It used to be my life and my passion, but as with everything, I suppose, a person gets burned out eventually, especially if no one is there to support him. I'm a liberal Democrat, and I'm not afraid to share my political views. Still, I don't want that to scare anyone away. I just think that we all need to have certain passions in our lives, even if we don't always agree on them.

I have cerebral palsy and use a power wheelchair. This shouldn't be a dealbreaker to most people on this website. Unfortunately, it is the case on different "singles" sites, but that is just life. I'm a relatively laid-back person, unless it comes to the Dallas Cowboys, when I am an avid fan--and some would say even fanatic. Of course, that's all in the eyes of the beholder. ;-)

I have lots of interests, including literature, music, movies, and sports. I'm not that different from most guys, at least, in terms of my likes and dislikes. Still, I'm also not that hard to please. I know what I like, but more importantly, I know what I don't like. I'm not here for games. I'm not here to find some woman from the Ukraine who wants to move here and get a green card. Moreover, I'm not here for a fling or to watch some woman on her web cam and pay $1.99 per minute for the so-called privilege.

I don't mean to sound cynical, and I'm sure I do. It's just that I have seen or experienced many of these instances I just described, and I don't want to duplicate it here on this site. I truly want to find someone who likes me for who I am and for whom I can say the same thing. Looks are not the most important thing to me. However, I do think there needs to be chemistry between two people for anything to last, especially a relationship.

Look for in a partnerFirst, I look for someone who has intelligence, and I don't mean someone who has been to college and has several degrees. I just want to find someone who can carry on a conversation without devolving into discussing the Kardashian's latest exploits or who is winning on "Dancing with the Stars." Of course, I mentioned looks as important, but as I said, it is definitely not the most important thing to me. Chemistry beyond the physical is far more important.
On the first dateI would not put any expectations on a first date. Nor would I put parameters on it by saying we need to do this or that. I may have a plan, at least, generally speaking, but I would let the night develop however it decides to do so. I think the people dictate the date and not vice versa.
